Why my nail?

Is it normal for my hamster to only nibble my nails?
I've just started to be able to hold her in my hands but she never nibbles or bite when I'm holding her or feeding her treats only if I have my hand infront of her so she can smell me if my finger nail in infront of her mouth she will try and nibble it???? Never skin just nail is it normal because it's hard or thinks it's food? I don't know why she does it

Maybes she might just like the taste of it?
I'm not sure really, Miso my hamster always nibbles on me (even though he's always begging me to take him out of the cage), I think he just likes the taste of my skin

I keep my nails really short but as soon as they grow a bit all my hams nibble them, it's just something hard & chewy, perfect for hams!

Cypher, any ideas on why mine seems to nibble on just my fingertips? (I wash my hands so they don't smell like food), he's not fussed about the palm of my hand, or my fingers themselves, just the tips

Hamsters have a really good sense of smell, so maybe even a tiny remnant of food smell might be tempting the nibbles? Last time I had pizza I washed my hands very vigorously yet my Chinese hamster still smelled something under my nails XD she was licking and nibbling them!

I can only assume that if this isn't the case, it might just be part of your hamsters behaviour/personality - its something flat and sturdy to chew on/just the right size for little hamster teeth ^^;
