Teddy bear.. Aka Supaflying ham
Teddy (Syrian ham) seems to have a lot of energy, lately.
After getting her out of her cage late last night, for a run in her ball, I put
her back in her cage, thinking, she'd run a little in her wheel, then
eat, drink and play in her cage. Within an hour she wanted
out again, so, I took her out and let her run in her ball, this
time for about 20 minutes, and decided to give her another scenic
route the top floor of my house, which is appx, 3200 sqft.
After she ran around for the 2nd time, and sitting on me, on the couch, for a while,
thought she would like a drink of water, so back in her cage
she goes. Not even, 20 minutes go by, and she's standing on her
loft scratching the plexiglass, which I've not seen her do before.
So, now it's, 4am and she's wanting out.. So, I take her out a 3rd time,
I put her in the large cardboard playground.
She was playing and exploring in the playground. Then, I guess she
got bored of the playground, she climbs onto a plastic igloo,
I thought she was going to start cleaning herself, but,
she didn't, she was looking at the top of the side of the
box for about 10 seconds or so, like she was just staring,
which I thought was strange.. Next, I see her lunge
forward and push off her back legs as if she was jumping forward.. She did! She jumped forward, appx
10-12inches, ( I measured the distance) grabbed hold
of the very top of the box and pulled herself up by her
hands and arms. There was no where for her feet to help
lift her up.. It was so amazing to see this! Caught me
by surprise. I've heard of rats being able to leap great
distances, but have not heard or ever seen an hamster
do that.
I'll post a few pictures, of the distance, but wish I would
have known she was going to do that, and had my phn
ready to video it.. Has your hamster jumped forward?
