What do you define as tame?

What do you define as tame? Our hamster will let me pick him up, put him on me but he then just wants to run off, won't sit still on me. He will take food from my fingers and off my palm if it's something he really loves, but won't sit on my hand to eat it. He has never bitten. He doesn't really come out of his house if the lights are on in the room, he would rather stay in his home so not easy to get him out. Is this tame?

-The dictionary says "changed from the wild or savage state; domesticated."

He sounds tame enough to me
