Re: Is he bored?
He has chewed cage whilst i'm in bed because i've got up to little pieces of plastic around. The cage had a shelf in it which held his water bottle and food dish and was like a house for him. It had the wheel attached to it too but it was too small. Thats why i got the saucer. I'm going to get a bigger wheel. I'l try an hammock thanks

Re: Is he bored?
If it gets too bad, you may want to consider a bin cage or a tank that he can't chew up. Hopefully the other things you try help though.

Re: Is he bored?
That looks like a mini Duna, its really too small for a syrian as he'd need a 12" wheel, the dimensions of this cage won't allow the space for one. Hamsters need ALOT of room to move around. x

Re: Is he bored?
Thanks Esmy. I have thought a out getting a large storage box and filling it quite deep so he can have dig in it and a run round. Not sure about making a bin cage though, not sure i'm handy enough for that.
Pixihollow, i only know its a savic because it says it on the clips that hold the top and bottom together. I have measured it now and its 55x33cms, so it is too small. My hubby wont let me buy another yet though so this one will have to do for now. It was the next biggest they had in the shop at the time x

Re: Is he bored?
It's fine. I'm going to have a word with hubby again tonight to see if i can buy a larger cage. I have got a plastic storage box, think its 84L but not sure. Will have to measure it. Do i have to cut out pieces and mesh it or could i just drill lots of holes in the lid? X

Re: Is he bored?
Do you know the floor dimensions? Look at Youtube: how to make a bin cage. There are also pics on Google and a DIY thread and a thread called "let's see your cages". You can cut a window in a couple sides (put mesh on inside) or you can cut a hole in the top of the lid and mesh that.
