Default Why does my dwarf hammy do this?

Hey everyone!

Sorry for all the constant threads worried about different things! I can't relax with my little ones if I think something's wrong I'm a right old worrier!

So my little girl, Gimli, last night had a scratching noise coming from her cage. I was asleep but woke up briefly and heard it, when I went over to check what was wrong she was stood up stretching as high as she could scratching away really fast at the wall of her cage. As she's a dwarf it's a plastic cage so there's no bars, I'm not sure what she was doing but she wouldn't stop, maybe trying to run up the wall? I'm not sure.

She did do it once before like two weeks ago but only for about 5 seconds then stopped, I got her to stop just by gently putting my hand in and moving her away from the wall but I was worried after that, that she might be stressed or trying to escape? I don't know, is this normal behaviour and what does it mean?

Sorry again for all my posts! And thanks in advance (:

All our dwarfs have done this from time to time and also syrians too. I think they are trying to see if they can scramble up the side so see what is up there and out there.
We call it 'window cleaning' LOL!

Our one boy also does that, but it's more of a "YOU'RE HERE. I WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU!" sorta thing. It looks like he's waving, it's very cute.

Sorry for the late reply been a busy week!

She doesn't do it too often I've only ever seen her do it 2/3 times I was just worried as to what it means! She doesn't do it when people are around, it's always at night! She's a very shy hammy when it comes to humans which means she doesn't come out a lot ):

Maybe this is why, she wants to explore some more! I'm going to get her a playpen so she can get out of her cage more often and run around!

Thanks (:
