oh my little guy.... lol
He is a sneaky one... i will take his wheel out for a bit and let him use it outside of his cage, he will see my hands so he keeps running but the SECOND i move my hands he runs out! lol lucky for me, he isn't too fast... but its fun watching him run... lol

Leaving your hamster alone for a day or two to settle in is about trying to reduce their stress which can cause the potentially fatal condition wet tail. You certainly don't _have_ to do it.
As for getting in the bath with your hamster, I've never done it. It works for some hamsters and their owners though

well I left him in his little ball to run around while I built his cage...
it worked out fine for him... he enjoyed running around the house
