Exclamation Pingu Escaped!

I went in to check on the hammies this morning and pingu wasn't in his cage.

I don't know where he could be as they're in the spare/storage room and its full of stuff. I've moved a lot of it, but I can't find him anywhere. There is an area he might be in, but I have to wait until someone comes home to help me move everything.

How do you catch an escaped hamster?
He's my first/favourite. He's the household favourite as well

Ok here are a few tips but I'm sure others will know better..

Firstly try to isolate the room (close doors etc)..
Is there a food source he could find?
Try sprinkling flour on the floor so you can see if he's coming out and about..
There is a very good trick using a bucket and I'm hoping someone else on the forum will detail for you.
I personally would try to empty the room a little but check inside everything to make sure hammy not in it, and be very careful in moving things!

I hope you find him soon

Let us know

Hugs for you

Search for the bucket trap
And get a humane mouse/rat trap to catch him alive and see if that helps maybe

When my late Beau was an untamed baby she went missing twice within a few days from two different cages here in the lounge next to the kitchen, i also pulled out all the base boards etc no joy, then i put a bucket trap out overnight in the open lounge when its quiet with books made into steps to the container/bucket, on the floor near the steps i put a small peice of cooked carrot then in the actual container i put peanut butter, dried fruit, a peanut in shell and a lid with water in it, then shut the door to the lounge which left the kitchen open to the lounge. I found her bobbing about in the container, once about 3 and the other about 5 in the morning but i had fallen asleep in the bedroom. I was lucky as before i knew about bucket traps 20 years ago i lost our ruffles in a kitchen on the opposite side of the house and never saw him again, though he came up in next doors bedroom they blocked the hole.

Dont give up hope Jessicaxo. Two of my little hammies escaped. One I found the early next morning having the time of her life in the kitchen - looks like she has been running all over the kitchen all night. And then my little boy went missing down a hole in the bathroom and went missing for almost two days - I left strong smelling food e.g. cheese and peanut butter in few places and he turned up. Good luck x

Lily escaped for 3 days !! She happened to be stock in a wall (there was a hole in the wall and she fell in it) We used a serie of many tubes connected togeter with her sent in, duck tapped them to make sure they wouldn't disconnect + a second tube attached with a cord and we left it hanging IN the wall : that's how we got her out ! her cage on the floor can help ! It has her smell in it ! Now, food is a good thing too !! SMELLLLLY food !!
