Default rescue hammy makes strange noise

Hello folks. Thankyou everyone for your support a while back when i lost my darling Muckle syrian- still sadly missed. I have just rescued another hammy from the SSPCA who was unbeleivably DUMPED IN A SKIP! She is a large syrian adult, but who knows what she's been through.
My question is, she is making a strange noise none of my other hamsters have ever made. She is nervous and dislikes being picked up ( understandable) and will click in fear. But she has also taken to making a strange sound like a mix between a hiss and a cherp when she sees me, and when she comes to the front of the cage asking for a treat.
Is this excitment, agression or something else? i don't want to stress her in any way so any advice is much appreciarted.
thanks and blessings to all hammys.

If she comes up to see you, it probably isn't aggression. She is possibly calling you? sometimes females do this when they are on heat. Anyway, keep on taming, her clicking in fear is normal for an untame ham, so just persist and build up her confidence. And don't worry as long as she is healthy and happy to see you for a treat!

Dumped in a skip? Some people are so cruel.

One of my rescue robos does a sort of squeak sometimes when I pick her up, it sort of makes her special. I'm sure your girl will be the same

Why would anyone just throw her away like she was trash? It boggles the mind. And yes, I agree, we need pics!!

Hi, my female Syrian Carrie is a rescue and she does exactly the same thing! She normally does it when she wants attention or a treat She was starving when we first had her so she gets really excited around food or when she sees us, even a year later!

thanks evryone for your advice so far- I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a hamster who makes this noise! It really does sound like excitement but also very harsh if that makes sense, so I wanted reassurance. I have some cute pics of this lass but I'm a bit of a luddite- I can't figure out how to attach them to a post- sorry!
