Sunnie chewed through ANOTHER ball...

I cannot BELIEVE that Sunnie chewed through another ball!!!! Any tips to get her to stop destroying the balls? I don't think I am going to buy her any more until I can be sure she doesn't destroy them. Please help!!!

Haahaahaahaaaaaa! I'm sorry, but that is such a clever little hammie! I am sorry she's breaking your balls, but that is kind of cool for a hamster.

I wish I had some advice. Is there a particular weak spot/technique she's using over and over?

Maybe one of those bitter sprays? If you can find something she doesn't like it might deter her.

How about a bigger ball? Like one for a rat or something? She might be chewing it because it's too small?

Hardy used to chew the inside lugs on his ball to escape so I had to keep an eye on him in his ball and make sure he was never still for any time so his teeth didn't get a chance to be used!

Laurel is a speed freak so kept crashing into things at high speed and eventually the balls cracked upon impact.

I have since swapped to a bigger rat ball and this has solved both issues as Laurel cannot get up quite as much speed and Hardy does not chew it.

I do like the bigger ball idea!! Her ball is very large; probably about 1 foot diameter! I'm not sure if that's a rat size or not, but i did see some larger ones at the store. Where might I get some bitter spray? Any US stores?

Sunnie chews on the tabs that keep the door/lid locked when you twist it. Then, once she gets 2 of the tabs chewed off, the lid easily twists off, and she runs out!!! As I always stay to my students "if you could only use that brainpower for GOOD..." Idk what I'm going to do with her!!!!!!!!

Jasmine did the same thing a couple weeks ago! I heard her chewing on it plenty of times before but I didn't think it was a serious threat. Then sure enough, one day she finally escaped. Luckily I was paying pretty close attention so she didn't get very far. Now I tape it shut, just in case!
