Default bringing in a new hamster, cage location?

tonight i get my new little dwarf ham, a 6 month old girl that i am rehoming.

i already have an 11 month old boy dwarf ham.

should i place their cages in separate rooms or with some space between them to minimise any stress upset? or will they not bother each other? i understand that all hams are individual, but the general consensus?

I would say eventually they will prob be fine in the same room - my 4 guinea pigs, 2 syrian males and female chinese, all share the same room in my house!

However (and this is personal choice) as you are unsure of the health of your new ham, i would quarantine it for a few weeks by having it in a separate room, to ensure it doesn't have anything infectious or contagious that will be spread to your current ham.

Good luck with the rescue!
