Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
Have a new Syrian Hammie and am thinking of possibly getting another syrian next week and a winter white also.
Is it likely to cause problems my getting other hamsters-will Fluffy who i got last week feel in any way jealous or left out-will i need to make sure i give them all equal handling and time out of the cage each day? Otherise if Fluffy sees me handling and playing with the other hamsters too much wont it cause her to feel left out-should i handle the new comers out of sight of fluffy?
Should i keep the other hamsters cages out of sight of fluffy?
Is it likely to affect Fluffy in any way if i do take on more hamsters?

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
I highly doubt they would get jealous but giving more time to one ham would be very unfair to them (whether they know it or not).

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
I think Rodney gets jealous when I hold pie Ella cause he sits in his tank and stares out like oh really soo she's better than me looking like he is gonna make up some plan to get rid of her lol
But I call it jealous if one is out and the others sitting staring out depends totally what you call jealous and everything as the same emotions as humans even if we don't realise it as I'm a big kid and if my mum hugs my sister and doesnt hug me I get jealous and I am a 20 year old lol

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
There shouldn't be any problems
Batman does like to keep an eye on me (in other words staring at me) when I'm giving the others attention and not him, just to make sure hes not forgotten x

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
Scamp used to have a rule where we were not allowed to touch/get out/interact with another hamster if she was in her cage. As long as she could get ball time we were allowed to do as we liked though and she got bored of that rule in time

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
When I used to have Snickers and Cooper, if I had one out the other would sit at the bars and beg to come out. I think it's more the sight of another hamster?

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
I find my syrain seems to get jealous, or just very interested. Although all of my other hamsters don't care xD So I just try have him out first and he tends not to be bothered. I think it just depends on the individual really.

Re: Do Hamsters Get Jealous?
I have 2 syrians and 1 dwarfie and they all pretty much ignore each other. They're not affected by each other at all. I've even let them all out in their balls and they'll run right by one another and not even care. So you could be fine!
