Default Bar chewing?

I've just moved my Syrian from a Mini Duna cage to a Savic Cambridge, and she has been bar chewing, I was just wondering if there was any tips I could do to help her stop? thank you

Try lemon juice or puppy anti gnaw spray on the bars. Try weaving cardboard or sisal string through the bars. Try putting a chew toy there or attatching something else to the bars in that spot. Try everything else suggested here and cross your fingers.

Good luck

If all else fails swear a lot and get a bin cage or tank >.< We used lots of the tips for Eddard our crazy bar biting girl and in the end that was the only solution.

Wooden pegs attached to cage bars helped Batman.
I also try and stick to a regular playtime routine so he knows when hes coming out.

Methods I've used in the past are - changing wheels, trying new toys such as hammocks and blowing on their nose. Most bar chewing is attention seeking, so sometimes its best to ignore them when they do chew and get them out when they don't x

Thank you, I've been blowing very gently on her nose, i'll see how that go's. Im just wondering if its just because shes exploring her new cage thats why shes doing it, I dont want it to go into a habbit though. If not I might try the lemon juice. Has anyone had success with it?

I tried lemon juice!!! and it worked like a charm! not only did she quit on chewing her bars but she started chewing her actual chew toys! also if you have chew toys but they are wooden try making them more interesting and fun. I got a toy a week ago for my hammy and she liked moving it around but never really chewed it and so I decided to rub a piece of apple all over the toy. She goes crazy for it now, she almost chewed through the first level

just to add, makng the toys more intresting, putting them in the bag/box you keep food in, shake it up a bit, then it will smell of their food and much more intresting.
also.
bonio's/markies are great for teeth
wilkinsons have small animal sticks, look like dog sticks, but are great for them to chew on!

You can use a small brush(make sure it's clean however) but anything of the sort could work, even an older toothbrush that you don't need anymore and in order to decide where to apply i ran my fingers gently over the bars she can reach and you're going to feel if it's been chewed, I had to basically apply all around the cage on the first 2-3 bars

Pepper bar chews occasionally, and i find the best ways to stop him are, weaving cardboard through, adding tasty things to his k-bob, and attaching chews and the log tunnel thingys to the bars. I'd try lemon, but i'm allergic Good luck
