Default .... Wheels and my robo girls ¬_¬

So far EVERYTIME i have tried giving them a pair of wheels they have fallen out, last night was pretty bad, i had to take Poppy out and put her in a separate tank cage, which i put it back in the big bin cage with Thistle so they could still smell and see each other.

I have put them back together this morning minus the wheels obviously, and i shall be keeping a close eye on them throughout, but they have gone back to the nest together and are happily asleep after grooming each other.

What can I do? give up on ever giving them wheels? nothing else has been causing fights! just ruddy wheels ¬_¬

And a little pic as proof they do get along taken the night before last.

Have you tried putting the wheels in different places each time you put them in the cage? Its probably unlikely but it might be that different placement would solve the problem.
We found our russians kept disagreeing over a specific water bottle, put a second really close by and that fixed the issue.
Or try extra wheels?
We need to give the russians six water bottles spread through the cage (except for the one area where we keep some relatively close together now lol), and I wouldn't have been surprised if they'd demanded extra wheels either.
I'm not sure, as our russians are the first time we've owned hamsters who don't live alone, but I thought I'd try and help anyway, as I have learnt from them, just not as much as I'd like to have learnt yet.

Iv tried moving them around to different areas that didnt work
and im not sure about getting another wheel/s as it would take up a lot of room in their bin cage (its 79cm x 45cm or somthing so its not tiny) i was thinking about trying adding a flying saucer in maybe? but then i think the same may happen again, they just seem happy with each other without wheels :/
gah confusing little mites.

Ah... I guessed you would have tried different placing but thought it was worth checking.
And good point about the wheels taking up space. I'm not sure about the flying saucer, so am now going to go with hoping someone who knows better will arrive to the thread soon...
I do know plenty about hamsters being confusing though lol, our russians are experts at being confusing... (As are the rest, but the russians being in a group makes it worse because they all get the blame for whats usually Scruff lol)
Sorry I couldn't be any help.

The only wheels I could see helping solve the issue of territorial sharing would be Rollies, which are wide enough for two robos to run side by side.

But as a general note, if two robos don't get along, it's not really because of wheels or their placement, and a different wheel might not solve anything. I know of robos living in happy pairs with one mini silent spinner to share between them with no issues.

hmmm they do get along though, just when i put the wheels in they fall out :/ they are fine right this min. Before i rehomed them they never had a working wheel- could that be the issue? or should i just split them up?

It could also be a matter of being in a new environment with totally new stuff that's causing them to fall out. Without wheels they might not have as much to do and are calmer. When they fight, is it when one's on a wheel and the other's trying to get onto the same one? Robos often do that. I'd try a couple of Rollies and see how it goes

It does seem to happen over one wheel- which is a rolly, the other wheel is some cheaper make but it still spins as easy as the rolly. I shall get another rolly then and try that thanks.
