Re: fighting robos....
Don't blame yourself, you did a nice thing for them out of kindness, that's never a bad thing.
They may have fought anyway even if you hadn't brought a new cage. They'll be fine on their own .

Re: fighting robos....
It feels rotten doesn`t it. I`ve been there with the two robos males I had and they were split up aswell, although my two were in a Savic Rody at the time and one just decided it hated the other one. This is the main reason I would never take on a pair again in any hamster species because the risk of fall outs can be high. Especially if their habitat is switched. This can be a trigger for territorial behaviour.
Enjoy them as singletons now.

Re: fighting robos....
It feels terrible when you seperate them, i was </3 when i had to seperate my robo boys but now they are so much happier single. Its better to give them a life of happiness alone than letting them hate each other and living together. Your robos may feel a little lonely at the start for about 2 weeks but after that they should be fine

Re: fighting robos....
I had to separate my 2 robos a while back as they were scrapping but that was my own fault as i never had 2 of everything..but after buying 2 of everything it was too late! they are happy enough on their own. im sure yours will be fine..its for the best separating them even if it doesnt feel that way

Re: fighting robos....
As others have said, don't blame yourself, you did what you could, and that's all we can ever do.
I had no choice but to split my first pair of robos, it was either that or I'd have very shortly only had one robo. As it was it nearly came to that the attack was so severe.
Both boys lived full happy lives on their own, so don't worry. With plenty to do and lots of attention they'll be just fine

Re: fighting robos....
Don't feel bad! I think, having lived with my robos for a while now, that the benefit of having groups still is great versus the risk of falling out. When hams fall out, it's often due to circumstances beyond our control, even if you have a great set up for them!
Even though they fight now, they still had 6 great months together, and that counts for a lot! They are pretty social animals, so even that amount of contact was surely comforting for them.

Re: fighting robos....
Mine didn't get on at all either. One bullied the other to the point that she lost half her original weight. I thought she was just ill and so did the vet but I decided to split them up and she gained her weight again within a few days. I was so happy, thought she was going to die but I felt bad for not realising sooner. Anyway my sis has one and I have the other, and she is a happy little fluffball on her own. Loves millet and dari seed
