hardly uses wheel
So when we first got Brian, he used to run all the time, but he soon outgrew his wheel.
SO I got him the 29cm karlie and when we first had it I just used it in his playpen to get him used to it and he ran on it for like an hour straight the first night.
But now I'm lucky to spot him using it for more than 10 seconds at a time and even that's very rare. I know he might be using it when I'm asleep but I work shifts and most hours of the day at some point during any given week I will be up and able to see him. It's weird :/

Re: hardly uses wheel
hmm could there be something about the wheel that hurts when your ham runs on it?
splinters perhaps?

Re: hardly uses wheel
he could be like my terry, he took about a week to use his karlie, he had a flying saucer before, so it was different for him, he is a shy boy, and only uses it if people are not watching him, i thought he didnt use it at all but i caught him on it last night lol!

Re: hardly uses wheel
When I first got Roberto he was on his wheel 90% of the time.... I then got him an 7" wheel as he was outgrowing the one that came with the cage. I found that everytime we was using the wheel less and less. I thought maybe it was because it had also become to small for him. I know got him his third and final wheel, a Woden Senior Wheel and now he seem to be using it quite a lot, or at least for longer periods than the one before.
I think as hamster get older they seem to not to use the wheel as much as when they rae younger.

Re: hardly uses wheel
He might be using it more than you think. You don't really know what he's doing when you're asleep after all. It might just be that the novelty has worn off now. I'm sure he's fine. He might just be lazy aha :')
