Default Dr. Jeykll / Mr. Hyde

My Campbell dwarf is nice and will walk on my hand outside his cage in his play bin. However, once I put her back in the cage she does this very snippity thing with her hands if I try to touch her..kind of what a cat might do..real quick boxing motion with her hands..extremely defensive.

What gives..?

It may be that she's just terratorial over her cage, especially as she's fine out of it. Girls can be very possessive over thier space so it may be best not to invade it.

Can you scoop her up out of the cage? If not just use a tube or ball to get her out.

As Roxie said - she's territorial, hamsters are territorial by nature, although a lot of hamsters dont get quite so aggressive about it. It is perfectly normal though so I wouldnt worry, just dont put your hands in her cage (something I dont think anyone should do when a hamster is young or you havent had them long as doing so may make them nervous or aggressive due to having their territory invaded so often)
