Waking up soooo late...
Hello everyone,
I think this subject has been before somewhere in the forum, anyway...
I just wanted to know at what you hamster usually wakes up? Roberto usually gets up around 11pm which means I normally don't see him because I'm in bed at that time.... Sometimes I see him in the morning depending if he's gone to bed early or not (6:00am). The problem with this is that I have a hamster that I only see sleeping and can never tame properly!!
I tried to put treats as to make him wake up a bit earlier (9pm) but it doesn't work.... I would love to do the bathtub technique but at 11/11:30pm is really difficult for me, any suggestions?

Re: Waking up soooo late...
Ruby normally wakes up in the morning when I do for a bit or in the afternoon around 1/2pm. Judas on the other hand normally wakes up past 10pm and has his usual half an hour grooming session before a stretch in his tubes and then will come and say hello.
I do the bathtub technique with Judas, which means I normally wake him up early. Since he is in a hamster heaven and sleeps in the penthouse it is annoying to get him out, so I talk to him and open the little door on it so he can wake up and come out on his own and he normally walks out and into his ball. Which is successful so far

Joe wakes up around 9.
You could always try making the room Roberto in as dark as possible at around 8. Then he may be tricked into thinking its night..It worked for Joe.

My syrian is still in bed now at 01:00, he's a very lazy boy. I've seen him get up at around 04:00 and then go to bed a midday. He has very odd sleeping patterns

Re: Waking up soooo late...
Mosrael usually is awake by 8:30 PM. Sometimes a bit later but it's almost always around that time. As far as going to sleep I'm not sure. Once I woke up at like 6 and he was already asleep, but last week I think he was hyper or something because he was still awake and playful at 7:30 AM. But he did crawl into his house shortly after saying hello. :]

Re: Waking up soooo late...
Mine are a mix bag thats why it makes it so easy for me to split my time between them.
Pippy - (Is up right now) Usually at about 8pm until late at night then up again around midday.
Thistle - 4pm
Cookie - 9pm
Truffle - 10/11pm
Kiku & Jení - both 8pmish
Trevor - 9am until midday and then 6pm until midnight
The only thing I can suggest is just keep waking him up to play around the same time and his body clock should change after about a week.

Re: Waking up soooo late...
If I don't offer gentle encouragement, I think Cookie would sleep 24 hours a day, she's a bit of a lazy bum. She's happy to come out at 9 but will only do so if I'm around calling her out .She'll occassionally be awake at midnight ready for her strokey cuddles but again, most of the time I need to call her.
Shilohs wakes up about 20 times a day at the moment. Wakes up, runs round like a loon for five minues and then sleeps again. On and off throughout the day, same routine.
