Plastic chewing
I hope I can explain this properly. On my Mickey 2Xl, on the lip of the base there is a small bit of extra plastic. I really can't explain it well.
Anyway, Cookie has decided that chewing this is the best way to get her Mums attention seeing as with the smaller bars she can't get a grip on them. It's definitely an attention thing as there are two plastic bits like this and she has picked the one that I can see clearly. I've tried jamming cardboard in there but she's smart as a whip so she works out to get the cardboard out no matter how hard I jam in it. She will then ignore the cardboard and go straight back to the plastic.
I would prefer her not to chew plastic, especially because I'm overly paranoid and am now constantly worried that I'll come down to a Cookie shaped hole in the morning. Any tips to stop her? Is there something non toxic I could put on that would perhaps not taste very nice? Only thing I can think of is to move her wheel there but she likes to make her nest in the corner under the wheel. I'd feel dead mean taking that option away from her. Any tips will be appreciated!

Re: Plastic chewing
I can offer no tips, but my HH has got random bits of plastic there too. Took me ages to figure out that they just offer some extra support to the wire top, so it stays in place when being clipped down. Also stops the wire being pulled inwards (if you had some sort of mutant super-strong hammy I guess!).
You could perhaps file it down?

Re: Plastic chewing
Ah yeah, that's not a bad idea.
And I'm glad somewhere knew what I was on about, I gave such a rubbish explanation
