Default Already?

Alright, so I recently got a hamster (RC dwarf) a few days ago. Literally, three or four days ago, and I'm surprised at how friendly it is.

I purchased it from the pet store and they told me that they were very nippy at the start.. mine bit me once and it as when it was in the cardboard box they give you to take it home in; which is perfectly understandable that it would bite me. I read that you should give your pet a few days of getting used to it's home before picking it up, but I figured there would be no harm in petting it gently with my finger while it was lazing around the cage. It didn't seem to mind, sometimes it would burrow under the bedding and other times it would just sit there and let me pet it. I also thought there would be any harm in resting my hand in the cage and putting food on it. My hamster would walk over it, sniff it, take food from it, etc. Yesterday it even allowed me to pick it up and I've been picking it up and playing with it ever since and it hasn't bite me once.. even when I was trying to determine it's gender. Another thing I noticed is it's ears always seem to be up and alert, as opposed to tucked into it's body as if it were scared.

Is this normal? Obviously I'm not complaining or anything, I'm just shocked at how friendly it's being :O It doesn't come from a breeder either..

I've always thought I got a realy lucky break with Suggs, she's so chilled about everything. I didn't really have to tame her myself, she was so friendly from the start. However, although I got her from a local pet shop she had been sourced from a local breeder. I have to assume she was handled from a very young age.

From what I've read, you sound particularly lucky

Awh that's cute!

Yeah, I don't know! Animals tend to like me, I tamed a chipmunk at my grandparents house in a span of a few hours, next thing I know, it was letting me pick it up! :P

I thought it would take over a week for me to get where I am right now.
