Default Does anyone else find their hamsters dont get up very early at night?

Hi all! What can i do about my syrian hamster & robo's as when i first had them they were always up on their wheels by 6.30 each night so i could take them out to go in their exercise balls and to handle them,& for the syrian hamster to also let him have a run free, but now each week they've gradually been getting up later and later & its now after 10pm when they get up & we have to go to bed by ten thirty as my son has to get up for work,& if i stay up to handle them & let them have a run around it can be two or three in the morning before i get to bed,as i feel hamsters need as much time out of their cages as possible every evening, but then the next day i feel like a zombie through only a few hours in bed,so do any of you have this problem with your hamsters in not getting up very early,or when you first have them they're getting up by 7pm & then it gradually gets later & later? Is it ok to wake them up earlier say by 6.30pm so that you can spend more time with them or will getting them up earlier just stress them?
Also have you found that roborovskis when the electric lights are on at night tend to want to stay hidden in their nests until the lights are all out when you've gone to bed?Again-is it best to just get them out otherwise you'd never get to see them.
Have just bought a couple of robo females & have left them alone this past week to settle in & to make sure they bond with one another-so far they get on great, but was wondering whether they'll soon begin to fight as have them in a Mini Duna-maybe i should get a Duna Multy,Kios or Mickey 2XL(ALL THESE CAGES ARE SHOWN ON THE EQUINEFELINECANINE WEBSITE)Has any of you used these cages?
Have you also found robo's tend to hide in their nests once the electric lights go on at night,& what should i do to get them to wake up at say 6.30 at night instead of 10pm or later when we should be going to bed?Is it ok to just wake them up when you're ready to have them out?How long to hamsters need to be out of their cages for at night, especially syrian hamsters.Whats the maximum time you spend with your syrian hamsters out of the cage each evening?Do they need to be out for over two hours or would that exhaust them if out that long or more.
Robo's dont seem to like being handled for very long i find,so is it best to only handle robo's for a short time each day? What about waking robo's during the day to handle them,at least until you've got them tame?shouldnt robo's have as much handling as possible or would that just stress them and cause them to possibly nip?Is it best to start interacting with them both as from tonight as we've had them for a week now so they should have had time to settle in?Whats the best way to start taming them?Should i take them into a box or the bath tub and start picking them up & handling them to get them used to it or am i likely to get nipped by trying to pick them up straight away?I know robo's arent supposed to nip or bite but i dont want to stress them by over handling them as they are an animal for mainly just watching, but it would be nice to get them as tame as possible.Any Tips please on getting them tame,& any advice please on the behaviour issues i've wrote about above.

I didn't read it all - it hurt my eyes but ..
Milo, if i didn't wake him up he wouldn't get up til about 11, so on a weekend thats fine, but a school night - im in bed by 10.30 also. So at 9.30 i call him and wake him up give him 5-10 minutes to wake himself up, pee, have a drink, and then take him out for floor time for 30-45minutes a night.
If you just gradually get earlier when you get them up it shouldn't stress them, if you do it by like an hour each time? Even though i get Milo up at 9.30 every night, he still isn't up at 9.30 ready to come out, he's a lazy sod and his sleeping pattern has never changed so if i don't wake him up myself - he'd never ever be out of the cage.

My syrian doesn't like it when the lights are on either, and as soon as there out i hear him shuffling about, waking up So i usually keep just a lamp on to give a bit of light for me and so i can see him

my two new boys don't get up till 11:30
But it helps if you gradually wake them up earlier so they get used to it

The mini duna is alright for some pairs that get terratorial over space, but generally I would have something bigger like the duna multy.

I have my syrian out for 30-40 minutes each night and when I had robos they were out for 20-30 minutes. Definitley don't have them out for longer than 30 minutes at a time without letting them have a drink or snnack break inbetween. Just handling alone won't necessarily help tame, it helps to have patience and takeit slowly to gain their trust

It is the same with Noodles. I wake her up about 9pm. If I didn't she wouldn't come out!

An aside:

As I've read some of your previous posts, Hazel, I'd highly recommend that you use some spacing to separate your posts into a few paragraphs. It's very hard to read a solid long block of text, and your posts always include lots of questions.

My hammies are all late wakers, so i normally dont start getting them out until 8:30
i get the dwarfies out for 15-25 minutes on weekdays
30-35 on weekends
Syrians 30-40 on weekdays
and 40-45 on weekends
which seems about perfect

Periwinkle is up more during the day than Hamilton. Hamilton doesnt start to get up and be active until 3 or 4am!!! And then he is back to sleeping by late morning. Periwinkle gets up more throughout the day.

When we first got Honey she used to get up between 7 and 8, now it's more like between 9 and 10. I try to give her an hour out of her cage a night and if she is up in the morning when I am getting ready for work she gets half an hour out before I go to work too.

Marley gets up at 1-2am which is a pain so I've had to start waking him up. My chinese, Peanut, only gets up when the lights are off too so I use lower lighting to encourage her out.
