Dolly is biting her bottle it is driving me insane - I had put a mineral block right next to the water bottle and rearranged all her cage - it interests her for about 5 minutes then shes back at it. I'm also sure she does it for attention as she stops and looks at me!

Muffin used to do this, when she chewed her bottle i removed it for 10 mins or until she was doing something else and she wouldn't chew it because she didnt notice me putting her bottle back! It sounds cruel but i dont think it is because hamsters are desert animals and dont need to drink loads

I remove Phoebes too for a little while, well I say remove, when I did this she just chewed the hole, so now I keep the spout in the hole but tilt it backwards so that the spout is pointing upwards and the bottle is horizontal. She can reach the spout then and leaves it alone and the hole doesnt get chewed. This seems to work for me anyway.

i tried the cardboard thing yesterday but she quickly removed it to get the place she loves to chew, she likes the taste of lemon juice so that dont work and blowing her nose makes her chew harder LOL
i gave up and have now bought her a taller cage so hopefully she wont be able to get to the mesh, knowing her she'll find something else to chew
