HELP! Milo is pulling otu his hair!
Hey everyone, sorry for the new thread, I definatly need some help though.
Panda is doing well and still becoming more and more friendly.
Milo has been eating, drinking, sleeping, and running in the wheel, but I have noticed he is chewing a lot on his sides and is missing some spots of fur. What can I do?? I've left him alone to become comfortable to his new home. It seems to be getting worse!
What should I do?????

what kind of bedding are you using for Milo? it could be some sort of allergy. you should also check milo over for fleas/mites.

critter care, oh thats like walmarts version of care fresh right? is it grayish in color (the bedding)? if so it may becausing some sort of allergic reaction for him. you can try switchimg him over to aspen bedding which is what i use and have no problems with my hammies

Is he in a crittertrail cage then? I've heard ventilation in some of these is terrible (depends which one you have) and the ammonia build up can cause severe itching. Also, try to switch bedding just to see if it makes a difference.

Sounds like it could be some sort of allergic reaction, or possibly a skin infection. It is obviously causing him some discomfort if he is chewing and pulling at it. I wouls start by changing the bedding and see how it goes. If it looks red, raw, infected etc get him to a vets asap.

My hamster was pulling hair from his armpits. The armpits were sore and red. The vet gave us a special cream and it went away in 2 weeks completely!

Re: HELP! Milo is pulling otu his hair!
Yes, its the walmart version. (Ive been using it for Panda and he hasn't had any problems.)
Im so relieved now that it may be an allergic reaction (not that thats good or anything!) but I thought it was something I was doing.
Thankfully it doesnt look infected. He just seems really itchy on his side.
I believe it is a Crittertrail cage. It does have bars around the outside.
I will definatly try the aspen bedding! Hopefully that works

Re: HELP! Milo is pulling otu his hair!
Hope he makes a full recovery!
(i would reccomend putting a bin cage extention to his cage, as critter trails are far to small on there own!) x
