Question Possibly Silly Question

This is the first autumn that Toffee has spent with us. As it's getting close to Bonfire Night, I just wanted to ask whether hamsters are affected by fireworks and, if so, what can we do about it? When I was growing up, we had a dog who was petrified by all the loud bangs and I'd hate to think that Toffee will be scared by them as well.

Glad you asked this starbug, I have seen the adverts on TV for the calming plug-in things for cats and dogs, but no mention of other pets? I'd be interested to know, although I suspect just trying to keep them away from the worst noise, moving rooms if need be, and treats/reassurance?

How is your hamster with the hoover? I'm assuming a hoover inside the room is louder than fireworks outside.

mine have got used to the hoover, but it might be sensible to start slowly for them to get used to it now i can hoover inside the room with them in it and the fireworks... the only hamster i had then was Pearl and she was fine with it she couldnt hear much inside her big mound of bedding i bet

They're usually fine
On the topic of cats and dogs, the vet sold us this black collar that lets out faramones (can't spell it) of a mother, and it's working with my dog so far

Pheremones Tish

Chewy doesn't give a monkies about fireworks. Quite often I will jump out of my skin, and check on him, and he is happily doing whatever, not noticing.

Snickers doesn't seem to mind either (mind you she sleeps through me hoovering!) Even my gerbils who are very skittish are okay with fireworks so I'm sure your hamster will be okay!
