Re: hamster squeaking!
?
lots of hamsters sqeak, some vocalise more then others
Its nothing to be worried about - what you mean about last legs?
Sometimes they squeak a bit more if theres other hamsters around or animals, maybe just for attention. my baby hams squeak like mad now, and my robos squeak too, but their fine x

Re: hamster squeaking!
Peanut is a squeaker, he does it when he has to go for a wee.. i think it's the equivalent of us getting out of bed at 3.am for the toilet going GRRRR!!!

Re: hamster squeaking!
Rofl I've never heard my hams squeak, so I find this most amusing, especially Peanut!

Re: hamster squeaking!
My Daisy and Bella squeak when they are in season. I think they must be trying to get Alan's attention

Re: hamster squeaking!
If she has never done it before then it can be as sign of illness. She may have hurt herself, twisted a muscle, broken a tooth etc or she may have a chest infection which can cause squeaky breathing.
You really need to get her out and give her a good allover health check so ensure nothing is amiss.
Being on your last legs is what people say when they think something is about to pass on Mango.

Re: hamster squeaking!
Nibble has squeaked exactly 3 times in his life - the first day I got him home, and I was rearranging his cage with him in it, and he was terrified! Then a few weeks ago he squeaked in his sleep, I think he was having a nightmare; and a few days ago when I scratched on his roof trying to get him to wake up - I think he was just grumpy.
But from what I've read, it varies quite a bit - some hamsters are very vocal, and some aren't. If he looks okay, and healthy, and doesn't seem overly terrified, he's probably fine.
