Lazy hamster or reasons to be concerned.
I was recently given a Syrian hamster as a gift from my partner as I have a soft spot for all things small and furry.
Bruce is a young hamster, perhaps only just a month or two old. After settling in, the second day (or evening) he was really working on his wheel and enjoying the adventure through some of the tunnels I have attached to the cage however his energy has subsided since then.
For the last couple of days he hasn't made an apperence unless either me or my girlfriend have gone into his house to look for him! He's rather tame already, and seems to enjoy us holding him, but after a quick wonder around the cage he goes back to his house.
Could it be he's already contracted a cold of sorts? And is a bit under the weather? Although he seems well enough... Or is this common behaviour for young hamsters and little to be concerned about?

Yeah i agree- he's probably just settling in and stuff Not sure where you live - but if your in britain you'll know the temp has dropped quite a bit and its a bit colder! So maybe he's just reluctant to get out of his warm bed :P

Thanks for all your responses!
Lol I admit, he does seem to like his bed haha! and I can't blame him. He has been out at some point today to get his food though I didn't catch the chance to see him do so :L

Re: Lazy hamster or reasons to be concerned.
My little Noodles is also only 8 weeks and we bought her on Saturday. She is also like Bruce. She comes out, has a wonder and feed and drink and sometimes runs around in her wheel, then just goes back into her house! (and sometimes bites both me and her Daddy....)
She was very tame when we bought her, but had a snap at us yesterday! She does like sleeping. A lot! Oh well! Time will tell! Getting her in the tub with me later on and let her run about there!
Good luck with Bruce!

Re: Lazy hamster or reasons to be concerned.
i would say its just because she is new and my boy hamster nibbles tends to only like to have his 'night run' on the wheel from about 3AM-6AM when the house is dark and quiet (except for his paws hitting the wheel, lol).
