how to get hamster used to hand

i've had my hamster for a few months now and i interact with him almost every day. over the few months he had seemed to get used to my hand being in the cage and petting him, he would bite most people except for me. he was more used to my finger than my hand, so he would bite my hand out of curiosity when i hand fed him but that was it. recently it feels like he doesn't recognize me and has been biting me more, i can't tell if it's out of curiosity or not because recently i had started hand feeding him more frequently than before.

i feel like i need to start some of the taming processes all over again but the thing is that i'm not good at all with hamster bites, which is why i hadn't been hand feeding him much before recently. i usually jerk my hand back which i know isn't helpful. i think i'd be much more comfortable wearing gloves during this, which some have suggested, but i worry he will then be more used to the glove than my hand. any tips?

I always tame outside of a hamster's cage because i think that their habitat is their territory and my hand could be seen as an intruder.

You could try interacting with him while sitting in a dry bath tub with a blanket and hides down or playpen/safe area with him and let him run around on your lap. Then do some scooping up exercises so he gets used to being handled.

It may or may not work depending on the hamster's personality. Some like interacting with humans and others don't.

I don't know if I'm the right person to answer, but back when my hamster was kind of fine I used to carry him to a playpen and gave him food from my hands and at one point he started coming to my hand (it started happening after months) and I just lifted him a little and he seemed fine with it and then I just petted him and everything was fine for months.

Mine never bit me till recently. I don't know what happened to him either, so if you do figure out a way, please reply to this thread to keep me and others up to date.

Playpen would be the best place to tame him.
