I adopted another hamster :)

Yayh, so a few weeks ago I adopted another Syrian hamster. My first long haired girl.
I named her little miss sunshine AKA Sunny.
I got her from Austin's Hamster Haven.
Would you believe she was from the same group that Star was rescued with. Sunny had been at the rescue for 5 months, so although I was looking for a younger, possibly male hamster this time, I couldn't leave her there any longer, her cage was also above Star's when they were both at the rescue so I just had to take her. I also remembered her from when I was looking last time as she needed a quiet home, and I have a quiet home, but was worried about her being long haired as I have never had a long haired (nothing to worry about, not sure why I was worried) Anyway I guess it was meant to be as I ended up adopting her in the end. I just thought she deserved her own proper home, especially in time for xmas so she can get extra spoilt.
She was very scared when she arrived, screeching poor thing. But we took it very slowly and she loves her food very much, she will stand by the front door and call for me. I just love how all hamsters are different. She's coming on leaps and bounds and i just love her fluffy butt.

I know, it kills me keeping it quiet, so I try to get a video up as quick as possible on my YouTube channel. I've had to squash all the sunny videos in as Xmas is coming and I made a video decorating her cage and she was so funny in it, I was worried that she wouldn't like me adding things to her new home, i needn't have worried, she was into everything as I was trying to decorate. That video will be out in 2 weeks i think. I laughed so much making that video. I also like to have a bit of time just getting to know my hammies before I introduce them to the world.

She is absolutely gorgeous! Love the video - she is so funny with all that bedding she is carrying around. She seems very active. What was inside the toilet roll she was attacking? I wonder if there is a "gannet" gene with cream hamsters as Newt was very into food as well.

Serendipity, she LOVES her food, everything gets taken and stored away immediately. I feel like i starve her (but I don't). I put some megazorb so it stands up in more megazorb and it has holes poked in it and i just stick some of her normal food in the holes. Sometimes the food gets poked into the middle of the tube and that keeps them out of trouble for a little bit longer :) Would you believe the little tinker just woke up as I was typing this, looking for more food! I wondered if she was like this with her food and bedding because she was kept in appalling conditions before she was rescued. But, maybe it is just a hamster thing. know they were all malnourished when they were rescued. I can't believe she weighs the same as Star, star is just so small but round, Sunny is long and skinny under her fur.

She is stunning, but it's so sad to hear that she had a bad start in life (to the point where she screamed in terror, that is heartbreaking)! She has landed on her paws with you, and reading the thread she has made excellent progress and sounds very contented with you.
Congratulations to you and Sunny as you have bought each other a lot of joy and satisfaction from the sounds of things. <3

Thank you, she is still quite a shy girl, she loves her food, and if she is out of her cage she will try to avoid walking across my hands, unless they have food on them. But, I can hold her and she doesn't screech and she waits for me at the front of her cage and I think she just likes to sit and take everything in as she seems to have a favourite spot to sit in her cage. She also comes when called. She really is a sweetheart, I just think she was traumatised by her past more than Star was.
