Hello! This is my first post on this website. I recently bought a hamster from petco (They don't let you adopt ;-;) and he's been sneezing non-stop. I got him yesterday, and they said he may have been "born with" a respiratory infection. They offered to take him back and treat him at no cost, and I'll get him back when his treatment is done. Should I do it? I'm worried they don't actually treat animals, because my sister worked there and she said they keep them in the back and don't do anything. Once again, should I do it? Thanks for any help! :???:

Hello and Welcome to Hamster Central. I am so very sorry to hear that you Hamster is sneezing.
I personally would be really worried about taking a hamster to a pet store to be treated (especially if you sister says they just put them in the back and do nothing with them) - if you can I would see if you could take him to a exotics specialist vet.
What substrate are you currently using? And what substrate was he housed on in the pet shop?

Sorry to hear your ham seems to be unwell.
I agree with SKB that you would do better to find a good exotics vet, if petco are selling a hamster that they know is unwell then I don't think I would be happy to trust them to treat a hamster personally.
Good luck with him, I hope you can find a good vet to take care of him.
