Brand New Hamster Owner Looking for help

Hello everyone! I’m barkbot, and I recently got my first ever hamster. She is a long haired Syrian named Miso, and I’m currently keeping her in a 40 gallon aquarium tank. I am very excited about her! She’s done nothing but run around like crazy since she woke up, and she doesn’t seem shy at all! My only problem is because she is so playful, my dog has taken notice and won’t stop whining. It’s imposisble to keep them separated, as my dog sits outside the room and cries loudly unless she is allowed to look at the cage. Once she is, she mellows our but seems obsessed. Is this okay? I’m worried that her whining could freak out my new hamster! She doesn’t seem particularly bothered by it, and just basically ignores her...

Personally I don't think dogs or other animals should be allowed into the room where a hamster lives. It can be stressful & unpredictable so they are best kept apart.
Your dogs behaviour is totally natural, knowing there's another animal in the room & wanting to investigate, I think just a little training to stop the whining behaviour would be best, by allowing her in the room when she does this your just reinforcing the behaviour really, better to stop it & stay safe & stress free.
