Am back with a new addition!

Hello everyone! Some people may remember me when I was on here for my late hamster Houdini ( who has you have guessed is who my username is inspired by) .

Well its been about a year and the last few months I have been looking at the space in the living room where the cage used to sit and thinking I miss having a hamster.

Fast forward to three days ago when I was in the pet shop getting nuggets for the guinea pigs and decided to have a nosy to see what animals they had in . Out wondered a hamster and just like with Houdini I fell in love and an added bonus he is the colour of hamster I have always wanted to own .

So guys I would like to welcome Pudding to the family :D

He is doing so well , from day two he has been taking treats from my hand and letting me get some strokes in.

Our bathtub taming is going very well , Today he was climbing over me and was able to get some cuddles plus lifting him . I was able to life him out of the bathtub into his carrier and out of his carrier into his cage.

Pet shops are notorious for getting it wrong. I'd hedge my bets you have a beautiful tort girl there!
Try and get a look underneath and maybe a pic if you can.

Good thing Pudding is a unisex name :) your beauty screams female even in over all body build too. Though it is very rare, you can get a Shemale who by some mishap in conception gets 2 X genes and 1 Y gene. However I have had a friend have a Shemale Tort and IT was a super pet and lived quite well in age. I just recently have another person have a beautiful mostly YB band male have a huge black patch right on it's back who has the tools of a male. So it is not impossible you have a male that also is female but the odds are high you have a lovely little girl.

As stated on Pet Website:
Tortoiseshell hamsters are female as the Yellow gene is sex linked but very occasionally a male Tortoiseshell is produced when a male hamster contains 3 sex chromosomes (two female chromosomes and one male chromosome) instead of the normal two.

But I not Pudding a new wooden house , wooden shelf and some chews to make up for having playtime in the bath with me yesterday and tonight

Well guys it turns out that Pudding is indeed a girl! good thing I didn't pick a gender based name! makes sense why I haven't noticed his sorry her *ahem* plums lol which you couldn't miss on Houdini

Well she is continuing to grow in confident and now tries to climb onto the cage door to come out when I open the cage and set the door down , happy to be stroked in the cage even when she is eating .

Also the last two days I have been picking her up from the cage and holding her to my chest for cuddles for a few minutes at a time which she seems happy enough with. When I did it today my sister put her hands out and she walked from my arm on to them for a bit which made my sister happy.

All in all she seems contented

Was she in with any other hamsters in the petshop? If she was, and the petshop staff said she was a he, I would presume that the other hamsters in there with her, would have been boys... So if there were any other hammies in there with her, and they were all boys, then there is a possibility of her being pregnant!

I am hoping she was alone in the petshop!
