Ahem new hamster .. Welcome Arun

I was in our local pet shop today visiting the hamsters. They have three girls. Alll very healthy and lively. I am in love with the chocolate coloured one but didnt want to get a girl as i felt it would be frustrating for my two boys.

I was chatting to a lady who worked there and telling her that. 'Oh we have boys as well, they have just come in'. She showed me four lttle 8 week old baby boys.

2 smooth coated fawn with black eyes, one was smaller than the other three, one long haired cream with black eyes and one silvery with red eyes. Really pretty.

The black eyed long haired cream hamster is now home with me in a bin until i get a permanent cage sorted. He had a good old explore and seems very confident. Wish i could have his fluffy silver brother too ...

No name yet. Waiting for inspiration. He is sooooo tiny.

Yes, greysyrian he IS adorable! My bedroom is somewhat crowded with five set ups!!!

Gopal has a new massive meshed guinea pig cage now so i will probanly put flowers cage on top of that and lovely new syrian can have a cage on the chest of drawers. I want one with a plexi glass front for him so i can easily see him.

Oh the bliss of all these little sweeties.

I am thinking of making something Serendipity. Exciting. I have an old coop style cage that I originally got for my rabbits but soon realised that its waaaay too small for them (they now have a shed/aviary set up) so I will try to use as much of that as I can. I also have a double story five foot rabbit hutch so could use the doors from that ...

I like to maxi but would really like something a bit taller and with doors on the front.

Just need to measure up and buy some plexi glass to fit ... oooo.

Fortunately there is no room left for any more set ups in my bedroom. We cant have them downstairs cos of the dogs so ... 5 it is.

Lovely fluffy cream hamster is playing on his wodent wheel. He loves it. He has been awake a lot since i got him home. I bought a wooden house exactly like the one he was in at the shop. So far he prefers the lttle cardboard carton that he came home in.

He has stashed some food in there and had a good old drink outnof his bowl, also just like the one he and his brothers had in the shop.

He is soooo tiny, so pretty and really settled. He has made a massive nest in his pet shop box, loads of substrate piled up in the entrance.

He wheels a lot and has started biting the mesh lid. New cage is coming on slowly. Got to get
some plexiglass for the front.

His name is Arun meaning sun.

Took him into his taming box last night. He was great. Played on his wheel and took sunflower seeds from my fingers.

I put my hand near him a few times but didn try strokies. When he began leaping up the sides of the box i gently took him back into his cage. He has moved out of his pet shop cardboard box intoo his big wooden one.

Arun had more taming box time last night. He likes the sputnik that i originally bought for Gopal. G ignored it as did Woodstock so obviously i had to get a new hamster to use it!

He allows strokies and is very speedy. Cant wait to get the new cage sorted. Got to buy plexiglass and work out how to fix it.

Yes but ... some bits are broken so i am either getting a refund or new bits. It is rather flimsy wood.

He loves the ceramic dish sand tray but ignores the rabbit corner litter tray one!

I decided to introduce a large see through tunnel. I gently lowered it in to the play box so as not to scare him. He was racing through it before it even touched the ground!

He had the real whizzes and was doing laps of his play box. Sooo funny. Gopal was in his box (next to Arun's on the bed) and sat up with his ears out wide amazed by the noise. He then had the whizzies! So funny and lovely.

0He does almost glow! He does a runny little circle in the ceramic sand bowl, kind of wiping himself all round the edge then shaking like a mini dog at the end. The litter tray was just inspected then ignored.

Its a shame that the wheel is so stiff. He has the silent runner in his cage which is a great wheel. For some reason though it is a bit loose every morning so I tighten it up ... weird.

Arun is such a cheerful and sweet hamster. I LOVE him.

Arun is lovely! And clearly very discerning on the shape of sand baths ;) Was the litter tray a corner one? If so he probably dismissed it as a toilet rather than a bath lol.

Sometimes he just sits in his cage and stares at me across the room. I have to go and offer him his cardboard transport box so he can come into his playbox on my bed within easy stroking distance!

He races round his cage at such a speed. He threw himself off one of his shelves today ... I have measured up for a nice little platform to go between the shelves. Poor little golden sweetheart (not that he seemed to even notice).

The little golden angel literally jumped into his transport box to be taken to his play box last night. He sat there while I stroked him.

Once in the play box he whizzed round, formula 1 hamstering doing lap after lap of his box, shooting through the tunnel eventually stopping to wash and play on the wheel.

He did a sneezy squeek to attract Kashi's attention!

His skirt is just tremendous. Got some fitch tangled in it yesterday. I brushed with his toothbush and he whipped round and bit it!!!!!!

I am going to build up to grooming a bit more gently next ttme lol.

Not been on for ages. We are now in England. A long trip in the back of a van for the hamulins but they have all settled in really well.

I love this boy so much. He is gentle, inquisitive and oh so beautiful. My little golden angel. Thought I would post some pics as all the old ones have gone (thanks photobucket).

He used to live in the mamble cage but is now in the borneo xxl from amazon de in germany (they dont export it any more sadly).
