I know people on HC like to give their hamsters baby food, porridge, egg and the like, but how does one prepare it for a hamster? Is it just the same as humans or would, say, the porridge need cooling or the eggs done a certain way?

Yes just the same a humans capricorn. We often just feed a bit of our own food.
For porridge we use two teaspoons readybrek, 1 teaspoon wheatgerm, sprinkle debittered brewers yeast and half teaspoon milk powder - mix to paste with boiling water, cool and serve. Remove next morning any uneaten. Egg -take one egg and put in a mug, mix up then microwave for 45sec. Cool and give a little piece to hams. Chicken - plain roast or boiled. Babyfood straight from jar.
