Hello, my hamster goldie is up there in age for a dwarf hamster. She was born march 2013. Carefresh has recently changed their food and when I used to love opening a hamster bag of food, now I wanna gag.

Anyways Goldie when she was young weighed 56g and for a dwarf thats pretty fat and she was a chunky hamster. Then after the death of her first sister she lost weigh down to what seemed to be a health 37g. Now after the death of her last sister from a tumour. Goldie has begun to really show her age.

Her hips have gone well its more of a neurological disorder the vet says. She is not suffering but has trouble walking. She is now down to 25g which is really skinny. She is eating the vet says it most likely is just she is getting old. I am just a little concerned.

From all you experts our there. Is there anything I can do besides just hope my hamster is getting enough nutrients from the new carefresh. I have been told not to put her back on baby food like I did when her sister was having pouch issues. Yes my hamsters have lived together in a rather large house. They had a few fights but other then that after a few threats to separate they stopped. Anyways any advice would be appreciate :)

Edit: Oh yeah i forgot to add, the Vet wouldn't even consider putting her down yet as she still has quality of life, but if she goes downhill then we will talk again. FYi my vet is so amazing that I can take her a hamster who is sick and if its maybe getting to the time to say goodbye, the vet will not charge me for the visit.

So sorry for your loss ClennUU, Goldie did live to a really good age & I'm sure she must have had a good, happy life with you but it's still so sad to lose them.
Play well at the bridge little one.

Glenn, so sorry for your loss.
Goldie lived to a wonderful age, she had a wonderful life of love, care and happiness from yourself and vice versa.
