I have been reading up about Djungrian hamsters, also known as winter whites, and was wondering if anyone knows whether or not they change fur colour in captivity? I know they do in the wild during winter.

Pure winter whites may change colour in captivity but not always, some hybrids seem to change a bit too sometimes.

One of my hybrids, he was labeled as winter white, is the normal dark grey/ black color. Last summer, yep I said summer, he turned almost completely white. He is the only one I have ever had that has changed colors though. It was very cool to see. One day I thought wow he looks different but I couldn't figure out why. Then day by day he got a little whiter. It took him quiet a long time to change though.
