I cannot WAIT to have the cash for a 40 gallon tank for Toby, he climbs up into the corner of his cage and chews his bars like crazy here lately. ...
then I get him to stop and he comes over to a ledge and looks at me as if to say "give me a treat and I'll be good, heh" Little stinker!!!
I'm just afraid he'll break a tooth, or teeth.
He won't chew wood anymore.... he only wants his bars or the very hard treats I buy like timothy biscuits, apple strudels, carrot crunchies, fruit hoops, etc. gawd he is spoiled.

WOW what a chewer!
Love the video and love that fact that you pointed out that the cage is too small and the wheel is too small.

You really need to get a bigger cage , the bigger the better, get the biggest sized wheel as hamsters can do damage to their spine.
Plus more toys to amuse him. I know. It sounds like a lot of money but you'd be amazed at what you can make from toilet & kitchen rolls, egg boxes and tissue boxes.

Mine have bar chewed, at one point Archie was really bad and I got really upset seeing him stressed, getting new toys, treat bars to hang from the cage and ignoring him when he chewed, you giving him attention is only going to make him chew more.
It'l be hard ignoring him but, I did this with Archie and when he chewed I would ignore him by tidying up, reading a book or putting the TV or music on. They hate being ignored and it worked for me.
When he stopped the chewing I would give him a treat and when he started chewing I'd ignore him.
Once in a while he'll chew the bar but nothing like before.

yeah, he's spoiled rotten though, he's got 3 ledges I put like stairs going up, an 8.5 inch Comfort wheel, ( i might get him a 12 inch silent spinner once he gets his new tank) 2 big bend a bridges he hides under and climbs on , rocks to climb on, kabobs to chew, (only he won't, lol) , a ball to run in, and a playground and play pen I built him.
I took a paper towel roll from the towel dispenser at work, they're really thick cardboard, and cut a couple of pieces off and wrapped the bars with it. He's totally stripped the paint or coating off that bar. I also hung his metal refillable kabob in the way. but I'm sure he'll pick another bar. Good think I collect those towel tubes.
