I have had my hamster 24 hours so far and yes he gets handled by me.
Only because it was his choice and he just gets on when I am sorting his food etc out.
Well he is now 100% tame and happy so all is great. But...

I think he might be deaf, he does not get scared of anything, loud noises dont bother him or anything.
He was sat eating a treat with his back to me, he knew I was there, I clicked my fingers gently above him and no response,
I did it above him either side and still he did not do anything just carried on chewing away.

He was the runt so maybe thats part of it?

Do you think he is deaf?

If he is I am 100% ok with that because it just makes him less scared of everything :D

It's hard to tell as he may just be a very laid back hamster or one that has never learnt that noises are scary so just doesn't bother. He may be deaf and it would be an idea to check the teeth and other areas for any signs of any other abnormalities but as you understand if he is there will be nothing you can do about it.
Just be sure he knows you are there and will pick him up so he doesn't get a fright.
