I think you can get some hamster treats made with beatroot.

Ive read that its okay - but obviously not pickled! and of course you would need to be very careful of the staining (unless you are going for a purple hamster look  ) I think the book I read it in actually said to feed raw rather than cooked too - I'll have a look.
You can get beetroot treats - mine don't go crazy over them however.

Edit: the Roy Robinson/David Baglin book says it is okay, cut into small cubes. :D

ohh purple hamsters!
I know this is strange but how else are humans ment to eat beatroot other than pickled? it's just I've never had any other way before!?

You can just boil it I believe Ness - and of course Borst is a Russian beetroot soup type thing - maybe we need a beetroot recipe book!

thats good as i got the piggies some, the ones you get in a bag for salads, not pickled :D and did,nt want to leave the hammies out.
when the piggies eat beetroot, it looks as though they have bright pink lipstick on :D

We get a box of fruit and veggies every week from G & S fruits (I think) and we often have a pack of 4 unpickled beetroots. Though my Mum eats them sometimes normally they go to waste! Maybe I can tempt Sammy with a small slice of it :D
