Mother's Day cake :-)

Just thought I would share this cake I made for my mum today, it's her favourite coffee cake, but with fondant icing over it, which I need more practice at, as its a bit bumpy!

I think it looks a bit like a wedding cake though, hehe :)

That looks so delicious :D I wish I had icing skills...I tend to go for butt loads of icing that tastes nice rather than appearance...has lead to many cake 'monsters'.
I'm sure your mum was/will be thrilled x

It's just the icing that you roll out and put over the cake once you've put a layer of buttercream all over it :)

Gorgeous! My mom makes cakes semi-professionally, and I can attest to the fact that that is a very nice cake! Don't worry about the fondant ^^ Regardless of what television shows tell you, some bakers don't even like to use it.

I'm terrible with the bumps in the fondant, so I got a special flattening card that helped me out. I don't know if they sell them where you live, but I think you can order it online.

Aww thank you Eriklover555, I do have a smoother for it but I don't think I put enough buttercream under it and may have rolled it a bit thin! but it's only the 2nd cake I've decorated like this so more practice needed :)

My mum loved the cake and she shared it with everyone yesterday (she got to eat the flowers though) :)
