I have been trying to make porridge for the hammies, but it always comes out like brick mortar unless I do oats-so-simple and they cant have that!! XD

After a bit of pondering I came up with this

1/2 tin of sainsburys baisics rice pudding (12p a can, rice, water, milk, whey)
2 eggs (mine havent had eggs for a few weeks, so i thought ild add some)
microwaved for 2.5 mins
2 teaspoons of loose millet seeds and mixed together
seporated into 7 big portions and 2 mini portions
sprinkled with porridge oats and dari seeds

and the verdict!

here is rose sat in her sputnik playing with the paper to see if she can find any more! greedy madam!! no wonder she weighs 268g now! XD

if anyone wants to make any, the eggs and sprinkes are not needed, porridge oats are really cheep and the hams love it sprinkled dry so getting some of that dose go down well with them!

Hope you like it guys!! x

shiny : hehe they are lucky, spoilt hammies XD i use paper cake cases so it saves on washing up lots of dishes, if they eat it all then i leave it in, they shred it and make it nest material as its just paper-digestable :D you get like 100 paper cases for 50p or something silly XD

starlightserenity: they certanly did!!! they are safe for robos too :) wurz ate about half but he did get a bit more then normal :D also great for baby hams as its got protien and calcium in it :D x

silver: hehe glad you like it!!! Im always looking for cheep things for the hamies! I spend far to much on them so 12p for 2 plates per ham I wont say no to! XD stays ok in the fridge for 2-3 days so they will get some more tomorrow night :)
x

Other odd things my hammies get is a baisic wheatabix :D its about 60-80p for 24 biscuits, i give them whole to syrians, half for dwarves, they enjoy breaking it up, carrying it arround, help keep teeth down, especially with hams who cant have dog biscuits (my dianna couldnt because of tooth damage) and the odd little bit of go-cat kitten biscuits (chicken and milk) now and then when I do their food bowls :D
I have just got some dried basil to try them on, it was really cheep on RR and I can use it when cooking XD i thought put a teaspoon on top of their silvers mix when i top their bowls up :) will see how they like it

I like the little paper cases too as I hate washing up ting bowls with encrusted baby food! A great idea for hamster rice pudding. For porridge, mine get baby porridge (the stuff in the box in the baby aisle) and I premix it with lactol powder so I just need to scoop some of the lactol/baby porridge mix into a bowl and add warm water for instant hamster treats :)

i got the paper case idea from you, just seemed the thing i needed! i was using little candle bowls but the cases are better :D
thats an awesome idea!! i have got some baby rice left from hand rearing hush, i have lactose baised baby milk powder, also used when hand rearing her, and normal porridge oats, it just always comes out far too thick, even with added water/milk after coming out the microwave! i end up giving up XD
I might try just the baby rice again :D

Nice to see they can be microwaved rather than use an oven.:)

Hehe glad you both like them :D

They do contain some sugar, so pure Campbell's, Chinese and hybrids I would only offer a small ammount to. Like a teaspoons worth, Syrians, robos and pure winter whites are safe to have as much as they like :)
I remove it after 36-48 hours, but I check it regularly, I only leave it longer as I have two who prefer to eat at their own pace :)
If you make it with porridge not rice pudding it's dwarf safe! I'm just terrible at porridge!
