Hey guys so I have a 35 gallon tall tank and I was wondering what you guys think I should put in it and what I should do with levels and such. What do y'all think?

What are the dimensions? That's one of the most important elements to examine before deciding what to use it for

(In inches)
Width: 10in
Length: 24in
Height: 20in

Hrm, so it's narrow and tall. 10" is rather small, I would say--it's even narrower and shorter than a 20-gallon Long tank--but if you choose to use it, it's tall enough to have a platform. If you are looking or approximately that size, a 20-gallon Long aquarium would be more convenient, as it's 12" x 31" or so and around 12" tall, making it a lot more accessible.

I wish I could buy one, but since I already have this one I can't.

Sorry, it just seems like an awkwardly tall aquarium for how small the base is =/ My only ideas are shelves with ramps.

Honestly? Nothing should go in there, it's too small. I wouldn't go below 27in x 16in (ish, 70cm x 40cm) for any species of hamster. Height is great but doesn't make up for floor space. Ledges/shelves etc don't make it up either IMO as it's not flat 'running space' if you see what I mean.

Could you make a bin cage instead? Or selling it and putting the money towards a larger one? No point getting a ham just to fill an empty cage, certainly one that's not quite big enough.

I agree, you would have to probably put shelves in

Second this. :)

Compared to my other cages, this one is big. I can't sell it because it was a present. I'm getting the others bin cages but I don't want the tank to go to waste. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to put levels in?

Could you turn it on it's side and make a lip for it from perspex/wood, then a big mesh door for the rest of the opening? Kind of how people adapt bookcases for their hamsters, if you search there are various threads on it. It would have a much more suitable floor area that way.

Thanks :3 Maybe I could do that... I'll have to see.

I had My hammyin a 20 gallon long for a few weeks before his bin cage. Even with a shlef it was not nearly enough space for him. I second the above post about turning it on it's side with a little DIY, if it's possible...much more floor space that way.
