what a lovely brood you have! one day the OH and I intend on getting a few rats, but not til we've moved out on our own since my current flatmate absolutely despises rats (she claims it's the tails). I've insisted on at least one dumbo!

Oh wow they look so gorgeous :) I adore that last picture of them all together :)
They are really quite big aren't they! Do they wander around outside the cage quite a bit? I can imaging them being a little naughty sometimes !

Everyone always mentions tails, then anyone who actually feels them is so suprised to find they are soft and warm, like velvet.
My boys are average size, minus the two blues, they were bred for size (their daddy was 1kg!!!), those two boys are around 750g and the others 450g or so...and I do have tiny hands lol

I have them out pretty much daily with me on the sofa, they don't jump off and either snuggle up to me, on the back or in their snuggie pouches, then they have free range on my upstairs landing with the stairs to climb and toys...when christmas is over my spare room will be an open room for them to free range.
They really are like a cross between a cat and dog..they crave human attention, they aren't pets you just leave in the cage, why I often have one in a pocket, on my shoulder or up my sleeve! It's nice to just reach in for a cuddle or blow a raspberry on a tummy and pop them back :)
And they do have their cheeky moments, mostly finding things and stashing them down the back of the sofa, or pickpocketing my friends!
That last picture is them in the morning, we often have hobknobs and tea for breakfast..it's a nice way to start the day before work

Kimble has bingo wings!!! He is the fatty ratty and it's really hard to gte him to exercise the chubby little so and so lol
He has changed lots the past year, it's called roaning..like hammies, just some keep their colour, others lose it, shame, the husky colour was lovely!

Such chunky boys! :) They are quite big... and so many of them...! I think I would be a little overwhelmed!
I too love the last pic of them exploding out of the cage for tea and hobnobs! No wonder they are so excited I want biccies for brekkie too! :)
OMG !!!!! I'm going to ratnap! They are gorgeous.

Just wanted to say they are lovely
My sister has a massive fear of small animals. She just about puts up with the hamster but will not allow a rat in the house. Other wise I would love a pair.

Awwwh Amethyst your ratties are gorgeous!!
I love Dodger, some people are really funny about Black rats but I think they're beautiful!
Your Kimble is the spitting image of our Ben. He was exactly like your last Christmas and looks exactly the same as your picture from this year, even down to where the faint grey splodges are still xD
They do look like massive ratties though :)

Perhaps they look big because they are splatting (when a ratty is a very happy ratty them just go, flump! And all their fat just goes smooshy lol)., weighed Tarrin last night, he's 450g so normal weights :)
aww mebe kimble and Ben are separated at birth? lol
