Her cage looks a little plain. Should I add more toys/chews or do I need to leave to open space in the loft open for her to run around?

Love the platform!

Is her cage just those pods? It looks very small... Have you seen any of the links about making bin cage? Would be a cheap way of upgrading her :)

She's beautiful, love the photos of her climbing out to get to the treats

The ovo habitrail cages are a bit small and i don't think they have great ventilation perhaps like evel_lin said make a bin cage lots more space for extra toys and her to run around :) you can probably attach the ovo to the bin cage to but I'm no expert when it comes to DIY though lol plenty of threads in the DIY section on how to make bin cages :)

Thank you! I made it with popscicle sticks, square dowels, and there is a cut down toilet paper tube as support for the center.

They are bigger than they look; the pads are 12" in diameter and give about 100 sq inches a piece after subtracting to make up for the rounded shape, and there are two of them. The loft (the big one in the center) measures 27" X 12" and provides roughly 300 sq inches of space, after subtracting a little because of the rounded ends. That comes out to 500 square inches of space, give or take a few. The minimum recommended cage is 75cm X 40cm, which comes out to about 30in X 15in, which is about 450 square inches of space.

With all that being said, I do plan on adding another loft... as soon as I figure out where to put it. I am hesitant to do a bin cage because I kept mice in the past and lost 3 of them due to an escape, caused by my cage making ineptitude.

Thank you! She is really very sweet, she already climbs out onto my hand and does not mind being handled and petted one bit. I am honestly a little suprised; I expected it to take much longer to tame her, with her not only being a dwarf but a PET SHOP dwarf.

Myself and lucyeleanor have made 6 bin cages between us and we have found that the best way to do it is to use a storage box and then drill regular holes all across the lid. Our boxes are the largest long ones you get from Wilkinsons as they have lots of floor space and are only £8. We've made these for syrians, robos and russian dwarfs and so far (fingers crossed) none have escaped. We did have a problem with the syrians chewing the holes and making them bigger but the dwarfs can't reach the top so they have been fine.

After the success of the storage boxes we wanted to jazz them up a bit so made a wooden frame which would slot over the top of the box, with 13mm squared wire stapled across the top (pictured). This has worked really well as the hamsters who can reach monkey bar across the top and seem to really enjoy it (plus once painted it looks pretty).

If you were going to try a bin cage, it is cheap enough to experiment with, and you could find a way of putting your current cage and the bin cage together with tunnels! =D
