I'm worried whiskers won't eat her food. We ran out of her normal food mix and we have these FortiDiet pellets that I'm giving to her right now. She doesn't like the pellets so she won't eat them. Any suggestion on what I should feed her until I get her regular mix???

Lots of fruits and veggies, maybe a tiny bit of peanut butter, rice, beans, non-sugary cereal, baby food..... that's all I can think of for now! Just depends on her preferences.d

If whiskers is a syrian, she shouldn`t have her food switched to something else without being slowly introduced to it. Make sure you buy enough of her regular mix in and buy more in before the one you are currently using gets a chance to run out. My advice would be to try and get her regular mix today and in the meantime, cook one piece of pasta spiral until soft and offer this as a nice carbohydrate. You could also cook some wholegrain brown rice and offer that in small amounts, but these are normally used as additional foods and not a permenant solution to a dry mix.

Dry porridge oats are also loved by hamsters and are another good source of fibre and carbohydrate. Just give a teaspoonful.

The faster you get her back onto the mix she likes though, the better.

If she`s a hybrid dwarf, she can`t have fruit or human cereals as these contain sugars. Or peanut butter as this also contains sugar.

Yes, rice, cooked wholegrain or puffed rice and dry porridge oats are safe. A little cooked pasta is also fine but only if you have nothing else in the house! Have you bought in her usual mix yet? Budgie/canary seeds/millet are also good.
