Meet Pepper! My new fluffle <3

Okay, so I have been wanting to rescue a hamster for a while, the boyfriend has been wanting a dwarf so I've been scouring the gumtrees, freeads and preloved etc and found this little bundle of cuteness!! <3
We picked her up today and she is gorgeous and sweet and gentle. It was love at first sight. Her name is Pepper, after Pepper Pots from Iron Man. She was originally called Roxy.

She's a about a year old and winter white according to the lady I got her off of. I am going to be treating her as a hybrid though just incase.
I put her in a wilko bin cage with lots of toys and stuff, she loves it. She's never had so much space <3.
I put my hand in the cage today, something I've never done with Zoro because I'm scared of being bitten, and Pepper just climbed on and then off. It was so sweet, she's so gentle. I love her so much already <3. I'll have to try and get over my fear with Zoro too, I held her today. She had a great time climbing over my boyfriend, myself and my friend, even taking a sneaky nibble at my friends top!!

But I digress. This is Pepper's thread where I will post pictures and videos of my new Fluffypants <3 Starting with these ones :D

Just to say I recognised something you said happened to me also. I had a dwarf hammy called Mandy, she was a terrible bitter to the point of drawing blood.

I then got my breeder dawrfs who were lovely & tame, through them I gained confidence to start to tame Mandy.

Also when I was talking to my breeder dwarfs Mandy would come out & be interested she wanted to join in & this helped both me & Mandy have a better relationship.

So I think you will also gain confidence for little Pepper

She is so sweet. She loves that box more than the actual coconut and hut in her cage.

I tried the 'put my hand in front of your face so you can sniff' with Zoro and she nipped my knuckle, I kept it there to try and suck it up, but she kept nipping harder and harder until she bit and drew blood :<

What I did first was to say in a stern voice, not shouting, but a firm "No Bite". And then with my other hand I gently pushed her mouth off my other hand at the same time.

Some hams you need to go through this lots of times some get it quicker, or want to get it quicker.

The other thing I did one day was just picked her up & put her on my arms, she really squeeled but stopped & just looked around my arms. Some hams have "cage Rage" which is basically territorial anything coming into there home gets bit to get rid of it.

I held her yesterday and she just sat in my hand, a little disconcerted so I didn't keep her there for long. Later on I tried to pick her up and she screamed at me. It was scary D:

sandti have you tried clipping her nails? wonton's nails were like pepper's just before he passed and i'd tried a few times to clip them but he wouldn't stay still!!

she's really beautiful and has that nice sapphire coat :)

I took her to get them done and they only managed to do half of them. I might try but I'm terrified of lopping one of her toes off :(

SAME. or breaking a leg. wonton was having none of it. i even put him in a sieve with treats to try and snip them through there. nope. i would've got a vet to do it if he was still here :(

Yeah, its awesome, she's been pretty much completely same since I got her. She lets me smoosh my face on her and just sit there. She's so cute, sometimes she unloads her pouch onto my hand and also licks my fingers. So's so awesome :D

She is adorable and I`ll bet you are glad you went looking for a russian dwarf now! :) Love the videos and she does seem to be enjoying her lovely new life with you Sandti. Her nails could be slightly long perhaps because she didn`t have much stimulation in her previous home? If they would sit still it would make clipping the tips of the nails easy! :mad:

She is about 1 year and 3 months old. She was rehomed because her previous owner didn't have time for her apparently.
She was in a tiny cage with nothing that she could of worn her claws down on. The wheel in there was tilted so she couldn't run on it properly, literally could only spin it with her front legs, as a result her back legs are weak and she doesn't use them properly :(

Poor wee daring. At least you have put that right now Sandi and any muscle wastage/weakness should recover once she has had a chance to build up some strength in this area. She`s over a year old now so she will want to settle and get her kisses and cuddles from her new mum. :)

Yeah :). She was also in that fluffy bedding which I obviously threw away as soon as we got her home. She's so gentle an sweet :)
