Say the title loads of times really fast - what a tongue twister!

So I thought I'd make a thread to discuss everything going on with Alfred. It's been about three or four days since I got him from pets@home and absolutely everything is going well. I have used tissue for his bedding that has been covered in my scent and he likes to run around his cage and pick it all up to put it in his bed himself! Saves me a lot of time!

On the first day he was very timid and wouldn't accept treats from me, like his mealworms and yogurt drops. He didn't eat or play infront of me either. Things have gradually improved throughout the first couple of days though :D I'm so excited!

He now accepts his treats from me (and seems to be in love with mealworms!) and is generally better while I'm around. He doesn't run away every time I come home. Instead he pops his head out of his house and sits right by the edge of the cage as he cleans himself, occasionally looking up at me. I'm hoping that's a good sign :p

I bought him a little log toy from wilko today and he loves it. He's been nibbling on it and running in and out of it all day. I also held him earlier (I hold him once every day to help him get used to me) and he behaved fine. He's never tried to jump off my hands, never bitten me, and he never tries to run away!

Hopefully soon he won't have any doubts at all <3

He is a lovely little shorthaired syrian (though he is oddly long!) and I have a feeling he's a roan! Since he's white with little grey markings!

*hamster waves from Belle!* Hi, Alfred, I'm Belle. I am also a Syrian hamster. I am now about 6months old. I was very nervous the first time I met my new mommy, but now I love being cuddled by her! Sometimes I go to the door of my cage to let her know I want to come out and play. I hope you feel very happy here. All the hamsters on here (and I guess their "humans" too) are very friendly and can help if you or your mommy has any questions. You'll make plenty of friends here too :D See ya around! Belle

Alfred is a little shy (or possibly flattered!) and has offered a little bow before crawling back into bed! He has been watching me surf the forums and he seemed very intrigued. I had HC open while I was holding him and he couldn't stop staring at the hamsters in the banner hehe!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted in these forums. I love them! But college has been super tiring for me D: It's all good now though!
Alfred has been doing wonderfully. He has grown a lot and has definitely shown me his personality - he is hyperactive with no real set sleep schedule, he likes to greet me in the mornings before I leave, and he throws a strop if I forget to give him a mealworm one day!

Hammys love grapes and raisins. But I don't give mine a whole grape, only 1/2 at a time. Also, check in a little later on and if any is left, take it out of the cage. Fresh food tends to go bad in the hammy's stash. You little furry is adorable!

Alfie got a new basket and some new treats today!!! He loves them!

I also got him some sand and he won't leave his sand bath alone lol!

The treat stick in the background is one of these (http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/hamster-food+cages/boredom-breaker-fruit-stix-hamsters+gerbils-x-2/invt/0080646)! He has to get through the fruity bits in order to get to the nuts which is something he definitely needs!

They don't have much in my local store as it's pretty small but the basics they will have! They do a fair bit of hamster treats, as well as big pots of dried mealworms (though they're in the bird section!) which Alfred seems to love!

I also got my ball from Wilkinson and a wooden holey log. :D
