For this addition I bought a smaller stacking bin, some 2 inch PVC pieces, and fancy duct tape. I also used some hot glue, an Xacto knife, and some sturdy scissors :)

You can't see it well in the photo, but there is now a PVC tube connecting the top and bottom cage areas. Ideally I want to move the wooden bridge to the top bin to create a burrowing/sleeping area up in the loft and create more room to play in the bottom bin

I'm hoping Hadley won't chew the duct tape because she has lots of toys and her log bridge to chew on, but does anyone have a better suggestion for tape that might be a little more hamster-friendly?

Please let me know if you want step by step instructions of what I did.

i'm not sure about the duck tape alternative, but i do think it looks great, and that Hadley is going to enjoy living in it!

It was so funny watching her figure out how to climb up and down! At first I was worried that the climb was too steep for her, but after I added extra bedding directly under the opening of the tube and patted it down to give her extra leverage.
I was really worried about her getting down, but she found a way... head first, with her back legs spread to lower/slow her down :p

I checked this morning and as far as I can tell the duct tape is completely untouched. It's leopard print patterned so it would be fairly easy to tell :D

What a cute loft!! I couldn't see it in the picture, but where/what is the duct tape for?

The pvc was in three pieces so I hot glued them together on the outside and the duct tape is to reinforce it

Awesome loft!! I would do this to my bin cage but it houses a pair of dwarves so they would get territorial :( Tempting to add a box to the Hamster Heaven that our syrian lives in though :D

Thanks! She's adorable/crazy. She was licking baby food off my finger before and I tried to capture that on video.
Now that she's gotten used to the tube she sort of dives straight down!
