Hi just got a syrian but the wheel that came with the cage is really bad wobbles and squeaks alot. I'm going to buy a new silent wheel this weekend but not sure what size I need, would 6.5" be big enough? The next size seems to be 12" which I don't think will fit the cage.

Thanks
Mark

I'm afraid 6.5'' would be too small. There's always the 8'' wheels, i assume they'd fit? The main silent ones around are the Karlie Wonderlands and the Wodent Wheels. I love them both :D
But..lots of syrians prefer bigger
What size is the hamster's cage?

You need to think that your Syrian is going to grow and grow and the 12" is the best size for a fully grown Syrian :)

A Wodent wheel is a little smaller (27cm which is 10.5inches) and great for a Syrian too...I have one for my Daisy.

That said I do have a 12" silent spinner on the way.

I thought the 6.5" might be too small. Another one i've found is Trixie Exercise Wheel, 28 cm Dia: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00365P9NY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A295BQ6ZFYW6MQ). My cage is the leon fun area from zooplus, so I could move the shelves to make space but I don't want the top 2 sections to be too small.

My syrians both have a 12" Karlie wheel and they make no noise at all :)

it depends on the size of the cage but the ferplast rodent wheel comes in a few sizes and is probably the best plastic wheel you can get! it is almost silent and allows room for your hamster to grow into it and if it won't fit in your cage you can still use it for playtime :D

We prefer 11" wheels for syrians. Ours have an 11" rodent wheel each, then one has the 12" silent spinner and the other has the 12" flying saucer. All are silent and good choices :)

A Syrian really needs at least eight inches of wheel, and a lot need more. Their backs need to be flat whilst running ;)

Most cages which are big enough for syrians will be able to accommodate at least an 8" wheel. Flying saucers are good since they are quite low down although they can take up a lot of space in cages but mine all love there'e with the exception of hammy who doesn't seem to like either of his wheels.... What size of cage do you have if you don't mind me asking, since it'd help with trying to advise the best wheel to get :)

6.5" silent spinner is too small, we purchsed it this week for our hamster, but had to return it (

I went to a few pet shops but couldn't find any large wheels. The biggest I could find was 19cm so got that for now and will order a larger one online in the future. Its silent the only noise is from her feet.
