With the taming diary, and all the new introductions, I thought it would be a good time to show you how Harry is getting on.
Harry, as you may remember, was our 'challenging' rescue - who hadn't been handled, and was extremely nervous.
Well, we've been continuing the good work - into our second week, we only have mild nerves. He's happy to be picked up, provided you spend a few minutes, letting him hear your voice, pick up your smell.
I think we can call him 'tame' now - he's happy to be hand-fed; to climb onto, and over, us; and generally makes the most of his time out of the cage!
Best yet - the absolutely key factor - he's got his curiosity back! For me, if a hamster is curious, it has no fear; and we never saw Harry on his hind legs, taking a peek. He'd stay on all four, and be quite tense.
Not anymore! The last week, I've often walked in to find him standing up, looking at me - which is fantastic; that he's happy, and feels untroubled enough, to do so; to indulge in being curious!
Anyway, he was too curious to pose earlier!
Going, going...

Not a long drop, thankfully, onto a nice soft pillow :x

He did behave for a little while, though - and I think it shows that he's all-sorted now, and happy to play!

Climbing on Gus is a constant source of hamster amusement! :D
Aww Harry is looking great - very content and relaxed too. :)

It's a success story Gus, he looks very happy living with you. I'm sure he's got rex in him, even if his whiskers aren't curly, I bet there is a rex parent there. He's really is a handsom lad.

Is that possible, even if his whiskers aren't curly?
Can you carry Rex like you can Long-hair? I mean, he's got the odd strands of LH, but that isn't a dominat gene.
He is crazily fluffy though, which sometimes makes you forget just how small he is - he's still enjoying a big feed, though, and we've seen some weight gain this last week; he's just getting a lot more exercise to match!
I think he's suitably happy :)

Quite a few breeders will breed rex in to lines to improve the thickness of the coats so yes he could have it somewhere around in his ancestry.

I've said before, he's like a little lion! With his crazy mane!
He's a favourite for cuddles, as a result! :)

I think it's just confidence, which I have in bags.
I've done some pretty challenging things in my life, working in some hostile environments.
Which means I wasn't prepared to flinch for Harry - so I was quick to handle him; willing to show him who was boss; and thick-skinned and honest enough to admit he might not always enjoy it :x
It might sound like tough-love, but it's worked - regime and reward.
Am getting quite good at this taming business! :D

Thanks Spud! :x
sorry didn't mean that offensively at all, just you come over as a very confident person Gus.
Make sure Harry doesn't get spinach caught in his teeth, that would be embarrassing for him! :D

I set myself up for the laugh, so I'm all for it :)
Have checked his teeth for spinach - his girlfriend Bob is out in the ball at the moment, so he's double-checking his grooming :D
