I recently adopted a dwarf hamster (age unknown) from a bad situation. I couldn't really see him in the bedding when I picked him up and let him alone for a few days.
Now that he is out and about I'm amazed at how much bigger he is than my other 2 dwarf hamsters (about 1 yr old). He's a real butterball! He/she was kept alone and no other hamsters in the house so there is no chance of pregnancy.
He's a lot more round than my others and bigger overall.
He's got the classic markings of a Campbell though.
He's probably half the size of my syrian, whereas my other dwarfs are about 1/3 the size of the syrian.
Is there a lot of variation in the size of Campbells? Or do I just have a fat hamster? And does it matter? I shouldn't cut back on his food or anything should I? I don't give a lot of treats anyway, just food and a bit of veggie a few times a week.
