Here are my two Campbells, Zip and Zap, that I got last Wensday. Here are the best pictures that I've gotten of them so far because they move very fast. From the pictures can you tell if they are both regular campbells? I'm asking because Zap's "undercoat" is brownish-orange while Zips is white.

Yeah they really love their sand.

I've got a question.I have had them since last Wed. but they are still fighting.Neither has been injured and the only time the fight is when Zap goes to sniff Zip and then they both go at it for 2-3 seconds then continue their day like nothing happened. Is this something I should be worried about or are they still getting used to each other?

Hey hammydude, how are Zip and Zap getting on? Small squabbles for a few seconds are usually not too much to worry about, but it should be kept an eye on, if there is ever lots of vocalisations with it or blood is drawn actions would need to be taken.

The second picture of Zip next to the playpen bars looks exactly like my Alfie :)

They still have their little fights. :( I just don't get it, Zap sniffs Zip and they go at it. Other than that they're doing great. Zip is still a little nippy, but once he's in my hand I can do whatever and he won't bite but once in the cage it's a tottaly different story. From what I've read Zip and Alfie must be long lost twins! Is Zap a reg. campbells with his coloration compared to Zips?

Yup, Alfie is just like that - a charmer once he's out (for me, anyway) but woe betide the hand that reaches into his cage!

I don't know about Zap, it's possible like babyboos said in another thread that he's 'carrying' another colour, like argente.

All the dwarf colour are recessive, meaning the hamster needs two copies of the gene (pp) to show that colour. If the hamster doesn't have any matching copies of recessive genes, he's normal coloured (PP or Pp). Perhaps Zap is Pp, having one copy of the recessive gene ("carrying" it) but is showing some characteristics of the colour - the orangey undertones.

I'm not certain but maybe :?:

He's a handsome little ham, I like the colouring, reminds me of chocolate orange sweets :)

It's been a while since I've been on here. Just letting everyone know that the two little ones are doing just fine. They still have their squabbles every once and a while, which by now I figure is normal. It's amazing how small they are compared to my oversized Syrian! They haven't grown any in length since I got them, just weight!

Thanks for the update Chris - glad Zip and Zap are doing well and putting on weight  Have you had a chance to check their sex out yet?

When are we going to see this new signature?

Yes, they are both males.

Whenever I get a chance I need to take pictures of all of my hams, fix my signature, and so on, but this summer my schedule has been pretty full. :?

Maybee I can get to it once school starts back.
